Bonsai with Australian Natives: Bonsai Basics
This was part of my HSC Design and Technology major work in 2006. I combined my Japanese and Australian heritage with my interests in video and technology. Part 1: Bonsai Basics Tree: Moreton Bay Fig This video deals with choosing your tree and repotting techniques. Made with cyberlink powerdirector4. To anyone looking to make bonsai with Australian plants, I highly recommend figs. The one featured in this video is still alive despite my neglect. Figs are also interesting to watch as they grow. You can see the leaves as they form. They also shoot aerial roots. They are rainforest trees, but they can grow anywhere and everywhere.

I had to include it because it was for my major project at school. The markers are obsessive about safety. Argh! Don’t get me started on the stupidity of the education system here in NSW. Damn politically-correct creativity-stifling boredom-inducing idiotic Board of Studies and their pointless education requirements YEARGH!!!!!!!!!
*huff*
Sorry. Where was I? Oh yeah, thanks

Good video, however I don’t think there are any need for the VERY basic safety instructions like ‘Take care when using sharp tools’ we’re not retarded… Without that though would be another nice vid.

years ago i was hiking thru the bush in the gold coast hinterland with friends and we came to this island in the middle of the creek, on this island was a huge morten bay fig that towered over all the trees on the banks, had a diamiter of 30-40 ft but the special thing about this tree was it had a huge branch off it and in the branch was a huge knotthole big enough for the 4 of us to climb in to it and have a smoke, was awesome.
morten bay fig trees are the grand daddys of the rainforest.
